Story James was a wanderer. In middle life he went to Missouri and lived among the kin there. He helped drive cattle through to Sacramento at one time, before the day of Railroads. He accumulated some money; went to Florida; put part of his money in an orange orchard venture. A sudden and unusual freeze seriously damaged the orchards. He sold and returned to his old home in Hampshire county. He was tall and blonde. He never married.1
