Per his obituary, he was born in Suls, France on 18 Feb 1818 and he immigrated to the US in 1852. Suls, France is in the Alsace Lorain region and is the same town that his wife and her family emigrated from. Also, this Passenger list, lists Bade as his country of origin. This is a part of Germany that is roughly 20-25 miles from Soultz-sous-Fôrets, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France.4,3
